Looking for a simple but cute holiday cupcake idea? How about these adorable Halloween Cupcakes!
Who doesn’t love an adorable spider? The googly eyes on it bring them so much personality that even the youngest tick-or-treater is sure to smile with excitement!
Here is how you can make your own Halloween Spider Cupcakes too:
This time I did mine the simple way and used a boxed cake mix with my own recipe for the frosting so they are semi homemade. This is something that’s great to do when you are making a large number of treats for a crowd.
You will need:
1 boxed chocolate cake mix
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup milk
big candy eyes (found at craft store)
spider silicone mold (from craft store)
Mix all of this together and then bake at 350degrees F for 30-45 minutes. You can pour your cupcake mix into the silicone spider molds to bake or in separate cupcake liners and then place those into decorative silicone molds after baking. Let them cool completely before you add icing to them.
1/2 cup butter (softened)
2/3 cup cocoa powder
2 3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/3 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 Tablespoon milk
Start by mixing your powdered sugar and butter together. Then add in your cocoa powder, vegetable oil and vanilla. Then add in your Tablespoon of milk. Once your consistency is perfect for you then start to spread it on your cupcakes. If it needs more smoothness just add another Tablespoon of milk. Now spread your icing on your cupcake. Once you are finished with that then get some of your candy eyes and press three into the top. After that you can place your cupcake into the spider silicone mold, if you did not bake your cake directly into it, for display. Now you have some cute and friendly spiders! I’ve been thinking and if you didn’t have these silicone spider molds you could always make a cupcake wrapper from black paper to have legs on your spider. Or better yet why not take black licorice and make legs out of them.
There you have it! Cute and simple Halloween Spider Cupcakes to delight even those who thought they’d never eat a spider! Would you?
