This simple to make 5 Little Snowmen Fingerplay Glove is the perfect last minute DIY gift for the child on your list.
I have years of Early Childhood Education training from college and spent many years working in my church nursery and that’s where my love of children’s literature started. One of my favorite things to do, besides reading and telling stories, is to act out finger plays with the children. They’re so eager to learn and memorize these little fingerplays quite easily. You’ll really be amazed at how much children love them! One of my favorite fingerplays that started it all for me was the “5 Little Monkeys” and it’s still a famous classic today. I have fond memories of learning that one as a child myself. The ryhme in this 5 Little Snowmen Fingerplay is similar and oh so FUN!
Finger plays are a fun way to help your children learn and be active! If your children enjoy finger plays, they are sure to enjoy this holiday themed finger play called Five Little Snowmen. You can teach your children Five Little Snowmen, as well as create these Five Little Snowmen Finger Play Gloves when you give the below tutorial a try. It is a fun and frugal way to get into the holiday season with any little child in your life!
5 Little Snowmen Fingerplay Glove
Children’s stretchy gloves ($1 a pair at most retail and dollar stores)
5 Medium sized crafting poms in white (found at most craft stores, around $2 a bag)
10 small googly eyes (check your local dollar store)
Orange felt or craft foam
Hot glue, glue gun
Finger play (see below)
1. Begin by applying a white pom to the top of each finger with craft or hot glue. DO NOT apply hot glue while the gloves are on, but only when they are on a flat work surface.
2. Add a pair of googly eyes to each pom with your glue. Just add a dab to each, press, and hold in place.
3. Snip a small triangle out of the orange foam (or felt) to use as a carrot nose. Add a dab of glue and apply it to the pom.
4. Once your snowmen are in place and dry, slide the glove on and get ready to recite the finger play.
Children will love this play about some little snowmen and their adventures, and can move their fingers along with the rhyme. Here is how it goes!
5 Little Snowmen
Five little snowmen sitting on the ground,
The first one said; “Oh my aren’t we round?”
The second one said; “There are snowflakes in the air.”
The third one said; “But we don’t care.”
The fourth one said; “Let’s run and run and run.
The fifth one said; “I’m ready for some fun.”
Wooooo went the wind and out came the sun
And the five little snowman said their fun was done.
This sweet finger play and finger play gloves craft is a great way to enjoy the winter season with your children. Give them a try!
NOTE- I did not make up this rhyme. I’ve used this finger play for years and researched but can not find the author.
