Many THANKS to Yoplait for sponsoring my Yogurt Trifle – Snacking with Yoplait Greek 100 recipe, but this snack and my LOVE for their Greek yogurt, is all my own!
Part of my fit and healthy living plan is the way that I eat. I’ve always been a big fan of fresh fruits and veges but I do like myself a snack too! So when I decide to snack I have the choice to make it healthy or not. By making the recipe myself, I can control just how good it is for me and still keep all of the flavor that I love in a snack or even dessert. I’m a picky eater who has never been a fan of anything dairy and I don’t particularly like the flavor of yogurt either. For years I’ve had a different type of Yoplait yogurt each morning because it was the only one that I can even tolerate the flavor of and it gives me the probiotics that are good for me. Now I’ve tried the new Yoplait Greek 100 and they taste so good that even eating them alone is like having a dessert.
I’ve created this simple but oh so yummy treat that’s perfect for when I feel like snacking. I’m actually testing out recipes for Valentines Day and have decided that my little personal sized trifle cups, filled with a few healthy toppings, will be the perfect healthy dessert this year. You can make some too!
~ 1 small 5.3 ounce Yoplait Greek 100 yogurt flavor of your choice
~ small handful of granola, either homemade or your favorite from the store
~ approx. 20 fresh blueberries, or substitute for any other berry you have
~ 3 fresh raspberries, or other berry
Simply take a small glass or dish like my mini trifle bowl and layer your ingredients. I used my layer of granola on the bottom to act as a crust for my dessert. The granola really gives it the crunch that this recipe needs. Next I layered most of my yogurt, for this particular one I used the Key Lime flavored yogurt, saving a large spoonful for the top. After that I made a single layer with my blueberries, topped with the remaining spoonful of yogurt and then sprinkled a tiny bit of crushed granola crumbs on the top layer. I finished it off by placing my 3 raspberries on the very top. No baking, no fuss, less calories than most desserts but full of flavor and texture which satisfied my cravings for a treat!
I love creating things with yogurt and I substitute it for other other things in recipes that have more calories. I’ve used it in everything from smoothies to salad dressings to dips but my favorite way to eat it is as a snack straight out of the carton. With all these new yummy flavors I feel like the combinations of dessert snacks I can make will be endless. Visit the Yoplait Pinterest Board for more creative snack hack ideas! Have you ever substituted yogurt for other ingredients in your recipe? What creations would you make with it?
