Just in time for Earth Day, I’m sharing an adorable and simple Upcycled Mouse Pad for you to make too.
When Earth Day comes around I find myself thinking about how I can recycle and upcycle a little bit more in the coming year. I’m happy to say that this past year I’ve done a few upcycled projects that turned out great.
It seems as though everyone has those freebie and promotional mouse pads laying around. And while they are quite functional, they aren’t always attractive. Well breathe some new life into your old mouse pads when you give this easy upcycled mouse pad tutorial a try. With just a little fabric and glue you can craft a mouse pad that looks brand new!
Earth Day Upcycled Mouse Pad
Scrap fabric in choice of color and pattern
Hot glue, glue gun
1. Begin by cutting your scrap fabric down to size so that it has a good three extra inches of fabric around the perimeter.
2. Begin folding the edges over the sides of the mouse pad one at a time. Pull tightly as you do and secure with glue.
3. Round out the corners of the mouse pad just as if you were wrapping a package. Pull tightly to smooth out any wrinkles and secure into place with glue.
4. Once your glue is dry, your mouse pad is now ready to be used.
Use your new upcycled mouse pad just as you would any mouse pad. If you notice the mouse is not sliding well, just pull the fabric off and reattach it pulling tightly as you do. Nothing with ruin the glide of the mouse faster than wrinkles.
I’m really excited about how easy it is to transform something useful into something new and beautiful I also think this would make a great graduation gift for the college bound student in your life. Gather your supplies and give this easy and upcycled mouse pad a try! What have you tried to upcycle?
