Haunted in Nevada
I found this really cool list of haunted places in Reno, so if you are local, be sure to check them out!
Goldfield Hotel – Goldfield is practically a ghost town itself, my grandmother lived there as a young girl, but the hotel is said to be especially haunted. There are many legends surrounding the Goldfield Hotel, but some say they’re just that… legends.
Governor’s Mansion – First occupied in 1909 by Governor Dickerson and his family, his wife Una is said to still be haunting the mansion to this day, along with his daughter, June. Take a walking ghost tour and learn about the haunted mansion, and more!
Mizpah Hotel – Featured on Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel, the Mizpah Hotel is believed to be haunted by prostitutes from the early 1900s.
Sandhill Road – Within the flood tunnels underneath the highway between Sahara Avenue and Charleston Boulevard in Las Vegas, rumor has it that there are spirits lurking. The mysterious voices of a couple that were killed in the area may be haunting the tunnels, while an old woman chases drivers down the dirt roads of Sandhill.
Fox Ridge Park – Probably the ghost I know the most about because this park is located less than a mile from my home and I drive by it daily! Rumor has it that a young ghost haunts Fox Ridge Park at night, and even goes swimming. Locals say that other spirits are known to roam the park as well. “Some say if he is bothered, he will take on a demonic form and then disappear. Swing beside him if you dare, but be sure to look away!”
Ice Box Canyon – Just outside of Las Vegas at Red Rock Canyon there have been stories told of unusual and haunted things happening in the canyon at night!
Haunted Vegas Tour & Ghost Hunt -How does a tour of mysterious and haunted sites that revolve around Las Vegas history sound to you? Here you can hunt for ghosts and learn the true history of Las Vegas.
Area 51 – Then there’s the always mysterious and very famous Area 51 with it’s stories of ghosts and aliens. No one can deny that something strange is going on out there! Do you dare find out?
Haunted Houses & Attractions
Trilogy of Terror – This trilogy of haunted houses presents you with a spine-tingling experience like no other. Pick your poison or do all three: The Coven of 13, Gates of Hell, and Castle Vampyre. Gates of Hell is the only R-Rated haunted attraction in Nevada.
Rated in the Top 5 Haunted Attractions in the WORLD, Trilogy of Terror is the place to be this Halloween season.
Kingdom of Horrors – I love the haunted houses that have fun stories and legends behind them. This is from the Kingdom of Horrors website:
Deep in the heart of the swampland lies a sprawling patch of land better known as the Kilburn Estate. Many years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Kilburn brought their two young songs deep into the swampland. They led a pleasant life, until the day a horrible fire captured their mansion and Mrs. Kilburn. Mr. Kilburn torn with grief and rage expanded on his fortune by building the Kilburn Reform School and invited the most troubled of youth the world could find. Not being able to stand the sight of his two boys any longer, Mr. Kilburn cast the two into the basement of the school. The boys were suddenly trapped in a place of despair and solitude with dreams of one day to escape.
The boys, Mel and Lester, still reside on the grounds. No one dares to venture into Mel’s cabin and after the school shut down, no one has seen Lester, the school janitor.
Kilburn Estate. The reform school has since been shut down, but the youth still reside in one form or another. Between two paths you must choose, each scream entirely different from the other. Many enter, but none ever leave. Are you brave enough to enter? Which path will you choose? Only time and what haunts this area will tell.
Many have gone in search of the answers that lie in the Kilburn Estate, but oddly enough all that have entered have never returned. Maybe Mel has mounted them in his shack or Lester and his band of demonic youth have stolen their souls. Many will enter, few may survive, but the souls we will capture will be forever trapped within this property. Entering may be easy but escaping with your soul lies at the hands of Mel and Lester.
Las Vegas Haunts – Asylum and Hotel Fear are both part of Las Vegas Haunts. In the creepy two-story Asylum building, you’ll navigate your way through the nurse’s station, patients’ rooms, and several hysterical patients. It’s $15 for a ticket to each attraction, or you can get both for $25.
Fright Dome – Another Nevada haunted house ranked in the top 5 in the entire nation, Fright Dome is downright scary. It boasts 250,000 square feet, 6 haunted houses, live shows, 25 rides and attractions, and much more. If you’re only going to visit one haunted house this year, it has to be Fright Dome!
